Glenfiddich Scoops Six Gold Medals
World's most awarded single malt celebrates win as Glenfiddich Distillery turns 125 this year.
Glenfiddich Single Malt Scotch Whisky has been awarded a total of six 'gold outstanding' and 'gold' medals in the 2012 International Wine & Spirit Competition. In what is a special year for Glenfiddich as it celebrates its 125 year anniversary since its founder William Grant built the Glenfiddich Distillery, the latest win is a tribute to over a century of pioneering spirit and innovation.
After blind taste assessments by a panel of specialist judges, Glenfiddich 15 Year Old picked up the highly coveted 'gold outstanding' medal for its balance of warm spice with honey and rich fruit flavour. In addition, Glenfiddich was also awarded gold medals for five of its other outstanding whiskies: Glenfiddich Malt Master's Edition Sherry Cask, Glenfiddich Snow Phoenix, Glenfiddich Age of Discovery Bourbon Cask Reserve 19 Year Old and premium expressions Glenfiddich 30 and 40 Year Old.
Brian Kinsman, Glenfiddich's Malt Master, commented on the win: "We are thrilled and proud to have been awarded six gold medals by the IWSC. The medals recognise the hard work of all the craftspeople and fulfil the vision of our founder, William Grant, who set out to create 'the best dram in the valley', 125 years ago."
Founded in 1969, The International Spirit & Wine Competition is the most respected and influential spirits competitions of its kind.
