Issue 129 Out Now

Whisky Magazine Issue 129

American Whiskey Special plus Kingbarns, Single Oak Project, Edradour and Germany

Aberfeldy

Aberfeldy 12 Years Old
Single Malt - Scotland - 40.00%
8 Refreshing and light-hearted. Almost too playful to take seriously.

Whisky Magazine - Recommended - Winner

Aberfeldy Bits of Strange 16 Years Old
Single Malt - Scotland - 55.10%
8 Everything in its right place here and no mistake.

Aberfeldy Ramble Single Cask
Single Malt - Scotland - 56.00%
7 ?This whisky needs water to cut the sharp edges! But water tends to enhance bitterness. The nose is more attractive than the palate for me.

Aberfeldy Single Cask 21 Years Old
Single Malt - Scotland - 55.30%
8 Introduce this to the palate and it will hang around till after dinner but won't outstay its welcome.

Aberfeldy Unravel 16 Years Old
Single Malt - Scotland - 56.50%
8 On the oaky side but lots of fruit as well. The alcohol is well controlled.

Cooper's Choice Aberfeldy 1974
Single Malt - Scotland - 46.00%
8 All the classic flavour elements. With its character "freshness", Aberfeldy often shines at younger ages. Here it excels in middle age.

Gordon & MacPhail Aberfeldy 1978
Single Malt - Scotland - 40.00%
8 Delicate but not bland. Real subtlety. Very mature, but not a hint of wood. A Highlander, but blindfold I would have placed it as a Speysider.

Signatory Aberfeldy 1978
Single Malt - Scotland - 43.00%
7 Less structure than the youthful version from the distillery or the more mature choice, but enjoyable in its own right. As a dessert malt with trifle?
