Nose
The faintest hint of peat, quickly developing to big heather-honey, then lots of berry-fruit and raisins. Palate
Toffeeish. Apricots. That typical Aberlour nutmeg. Crème brûlée. Anise. Finish
Spicy, with a hint of lemon. Vanilla. Oak. Comment
Had I not known that it was matured in first-fill bourbon barrels. I would have guessed that there was some sherry.
Jim Murray
Nose
Suet and sultanas liberally sprinkled with vanilla. Palate
Dry and spicy start with wave upon wave of encroaching oak. Finish
More vanilla but some pleasant malty tones stretch out the length to a surprising degree. Comment
A pleasant and well-measured oldie without blemish but perhaps lacking complexity before the excellent finale.
