85- Nose
- Polished leather. Mature, finessed.
- Palate
- Firmly malty. Hint of smoky peat, plus rooty liquorice and anise. Tightly combined flavours.
- Finish
- Surprisingly fresh oak. Sappiness and log fires; warming.
- Comment
- More sophisticated, especially in the finish. Better balanced, but less voluptuous maltiness.

90- Nose
- A faultlessly clean and deep sherry aroma with a mint residue and beautiful lemon notes. Compelling.
- Palate
- Deep, moderately dry throughout with a slow build up of peppery spices and smoke. Malty, grapey succulence with some cocoa bitterness giving extra complexity.
- Finish
- Amazingly long and brilliantly weighted, the fruitiness sweetens the malt gracefully.
- Comment
- A really excellent and classy Aberlour showing amazing complexity for its age.
