- Nose
- Fresh. Momentarily sweet, then cedary and grassy, with a gentle suggestion of peat.
- Palate
- Light to medium. Firm. Smooth. Malty. Lots of flavour development. Nutmeg is very evident.
- Finish
- More spices. Peppery. Some sweetness.
- Comment
- On this occasion the vintage bottling had the most typical Aberlour character, especially in its spiciness. I also enjoyed its liveliness and complexity. The best Aberlour on the day.

- Nose
- Initially quite light and lean. Water is needed to bring out a hot bracken, toffee note with US wood: light hickory, honey and spice. Flat.
- Palate
- A burst of soft toffee, loads of honey and a dry cereal, peanut brittle edginess. A little musty.
- Finish
- Chewy, medium length, a little minty.
- Comment
- Young and light but a bit flat with a wet newspaper note that could be light corkiness.
