Nose
Peaty. I could almost smell the burn that flows through the distillery garden. Palate
Syrupy. Surprisingly big and malty. Nutty. Dry toffee. A hint of liquorice. Rooty. Slight astringency. Finish
Firm, peaty. Comment
Glen Grant is a delicate whisky and does not always benefit from long maturation. This bottling is on the cusp. The distillery character can still be discerned, but only just.
Jim Murray
Nose
The subtlest hint of medium roast Kenyan coffee and intertwines beautifully with the thick sherry. Palate
Glorious array of sweet, demerara-style toffee sugars. Silky sherry and busy peppers, panning out into a raging sea of malty complexity. Finish
Soft yet enormously long and playful. Comment
The best Glen Grant of the last 20 years? Unquestionably. Near prefect stuff to the old school.
