- Nose
- Obvious maturity. Quite figgy with good wood notes, light leather and a tweedy element but all of this is being balanced by succulent grain. Water brings out both dried coconut and a gamey element. Fascinating.
- Palate
- Immediate lift. Lots of herbal mintiness, fruit cake, Highland toffee to open while the thick mumble of stewed peach goes on underneath. Long developer.
- Finish
- Chewy, long and elegant.
- Comment
- An excellent (and sadly overlooked) blend.
- Nose
- Big engaging nose, plenty of layers of complexity here, ranging from light
floral delicate notes to lush leather and wool. There are some pencil shavings
and a hint of toffee.
- Palate
- That toffee note comes through with a touch of mint, almost like chocolate Kendal Mint Cake. Some fruits emerge with time.
- Finish
- Takes its time but very engaging.
- Comment
- Great stuff, makes me wonder why people claim not to drink blends.

Depends on the blend
Blended whisky is most often considered a poor relation to single malts.
