- Nose
- The merest whiff of acetone before the smoke enters hand in hand with black liquorice. Sun-warmed stones covered with wet seaweed and a note of cocoa butter and an almost floral lift.
- Palate
- Clean and sweeter than you'd expect from the way that the smoke floods the whole mouth. Then a heathery lift
introduces some creamy sweet spices.
- Finish
- Cracked black pepper.
- Comment
- Everything here has been reduced to elemental levels.
A nice circle completed.

- Nose
- Extremely Ardbegy! Smoky and sooty. Briny. Vanilla discreetly swirls through. A hint of creosote then a citrussy note.
- Palate
- Surprisingly sweet at first but a huge spicy whiff dances on the tongue. Multilayered. Cereal bowl, barley sugar, lemon juice… Big.
- Finish
- Teasing,sherbety with a sweet lemonade touch.
- Comment
- A big lad. I was right. Ardbeg Renaissance.Unmistakable, uncompromising. Excellent.
