Nose
Rich chocolate, a little rubber, germaline. Freshly polished furniture, leather, saddles. Then fresh sea-air, a minerally note, pebbles brought home from the beach, moss, with smoke and peat coming through.
Palate
Quite hot and spicy at first. A bit salty. Then lots of dark fruit, cherries, rich fruit cake. Smooth but strong peaty notes. Bonfires and Lapsong Souchong tea.
Finish
Long and lingering, comes and goes in waves.
Comment
Another stunner from Ardbeg.

Nose
Huge peat, phenolic hit, cooling coal embers. Barbecued pork with sweet chilli sauce, clove cigarettes, damp wool, compost. Water brings more floral notes and scented soap.
Palate
Smoked almonds, there is sweetness too, fresh orange juice and lemon zest. Then the peat takes hold. The sweetness is amplified with water.
Finish
Big, spicy and peaty at the end.
Comment
Like walking into a cottage where a roast is cooking and a peat fire is burning low.
