Nose
This takes a little time to open, then there's a jamminess which slowly overtakes the dry malty centre. Big, plump and welcoming:mulberry jam, raisin, hot sawdust. Good density.
Palate
Black fruits from the start. A glossy, sleek, feel then caramel toffee, treacle and slightly dusty deep raisined fruit. A drop of water shows good layering.
Finish
Winey, raisin and that jamminess.
Comment
A classic of its type.

Palate
Blackberry compote, dark treacle reminicence of Parkin cake at Halloween celebrations.
Finish
The Parkin continues.

Outstanding.
