- Nose
- Riper. A big shift here. Oily, rich and ripe with lots of dried peach and milk chocolate. Hot gorse, sandalwood and an overwhelming caramelised sweetness. Complex.
- Palate
- Long and elegant with a tickle of smoke. Sweet dried fruits, a little touch of resin and musk. Drier than the previous two but then a fragrant bite of gooseberry and elderflower.
- Finish
- Dried fruit, the smoke creeps back.
- Comment
- Ripe, elegant and complex and always that Ballantine's precision.
- Nose
- Quite complex with overtones of maple syrup and hot buttered corn bread. Some enticing spices lurk underneath with some dried fruits.
- Palate
- Layers of flavour comes in waves, the dried fruits almost dominate but a balanced with a dry, gentle (in a good way) sourness.
- Finish
- Dries out gently.
- Comment
- Finely balanced.
