Nose
Intense. Old parmigiano. Medlars. Then becoming creamier, molasses toffee with a hint of burnt coffee. A touch of sultanas. Palate
Sweet, velvety. Sticky toffee pudding. Smoky (burnt wood and dry ashes). Getting quite peppery. Finish
Warm, dry, rather long. Tabasco. A minty touch. Comment
Quite a nice dram but a bit edgy.
Dave Broom
Nose
Raffia/weetabix to start then dry wood smoke/charred sticks. With water a cooked vegetable note and old trainers. Palate
Sweet oak when neat. Lightly nutty with a hint of smoke. Water maintains the balance. Finish
Long and lightly smoky. Comment
Well balanced. Though peaty it doesn’t have the marine phenolics usually encountered on the coast.
