Tasting Notes

Martine Nouet

Nose
Buoyant, pleasantly tangy. Floral and spicy. Carnation, black pepper. Dried flowers, hayloft. An indistinct meaty aroma (chicken broth?). Cedar.
Palate
Smooth and sweet in spite of the strength. Then a spicy outburst. Hot chilli. Sherbety.
Finish
Hot, prickly, spicy, almondy
Comment
An enticing nose but quite a rough palate. Water does not seem to tame the firewater much as it enhances spices. And don’t say it is too virile for a female palate. It is NOT that!

Dave Broom

Nose
Huge and soft. Baked fruits with thick honey (almost treacle) tropical fruits and black banana. A deep, powerful, zesty bourbon.
Palate
Very sweet almost liqueur like. High, chest-hurting, alcohol burn. Blackberry and burnt sugar. Slightly nutty.
Finish
Long mix of wood and a ring of fire.
Comment
Broad-shouldered and old-fashioned. A true memorial to a real giant.
