- Nose
- Buoyant, pleasantly tangy. Floral and spicy. Carnation, black pepper. Dried flowers, hayloft. An indistinct meaty aroma (chicken broth?). Cedar.
- Palate
- Smooth and sweet in spite of the strength. Then a spicy outburst. Hot chilli. Sherbety.
- Finish
- Hot, prickly, spicy, almondy
- Comment
- An enticing nose but quite a rough palate. Water does not seem to tame the firewater much as it enhances spices. And don't say it is too virile for a female palate. It is NOT that!

- Nose
- Huge and soft. Baked fruits with thick honey (almost treacle) tropical fruits and black banana. A deep, powerful, zesty bourbon.
- Palate
- Very sweet, almost liqueur like. High, chest-hurting, alcohol burn. Blackberry and burnt sugar. Slightly nutty.
- Finish
- Long mix of wood and a ring of fire.
- Comment
- Broad-shouldered and old-fashioned. A true memorial to a real giant.
