- Nose
- Big smoke. Quite fragrant with cigar smoke, heather, chocolate covered raisin, liquorice, walnut and sweet mash underneath.
- Palate
- Robust, dry and slightly perfumed a hint of lavender (though this is reduced with water). Smouldering peat, hard toffee.
- Finish
- Little perfumed.
- Comment
- The nose is fantastic, like the fug in an old Scottish pub: coal fires, cigarette smoke, damp clothes. The perfume pulls the score down.

- Nose
- Raisins, then peat ash and swimming pools and Love Heart sweeties. A fruitcake character wafts in and out of focus.
- Palate
- Intensely floral: lavender, parma violet and dried roses.
- Finish
- A meaty, burnt character.
- Comment
- The keynotes are the intense floral and a meaty sherryness, which aren't my favourite flavours in a whisky, but I can see this being popular with many.
