70
- Nose
- Mealy with notes of pancake batter and dry wood shavings. There's some smoke and a youthful, putty-like edge. With water it shows youthfulness.
- Palate
- Initially it has better balance and depth than the nose, though it still appears tight before a huge blast of parma violets comes through and, with water, a little soapiness.
- Finish
- Firm and lightly smoky.
- Comment
- A step down from the previous versions. Seek those out.
70
- Nose
- Intense. Floral. With an earthy character. Gillyflowers. A hint of smoked oysters. Some vanilla slowly creeping in. In time, creosote.
- Palate
- Sweet at start, followed by a strong earthy flavour with some mustiness in
the back. Touch of liquorice. Very dry.
- Finish
- Short and quickly fading.
- Comment
- The nose is appealing. This batch N°3 does not have the “guts” of the
previous ones.
