Tasting Notes

Michael Jackson Nose Intense. Drier, flowery, seaweedy, salty. Palate Flowery, seaweedy, salty. Flavours very well-combined and rounded. An easily drinkable yet satisfying malt. Has definitely benefited from the extra five years. Finish Long, warming, salty. Comment An easily drinkable yet satisfying malt. Has definitely benefited from the extra five years.

Jim Murray Nose Peat-free (contrary to label) and clean – even cleaner than 10 Years Old. The malt is sweeter, too, with more vanilla, and a hint of butterscotch. Palate More discreet malt this time, with a pleasing built up of spices and oak. Finish Dry and extremely malty. The oak adds a bitter chocolate finale. Comment Wondrously peat-free for an Islay but lacking in depth. Even so, this is rather lovely stuff.
