Nose
Earthy, a little mashy, with hints of Bovril, plums, light smoke, coffee and milk chocolate.
Palate
Quite sweet, with spicy cocoa powder, tangy, unripe oranges. Slightly woody.
Finish
Lingering coffee and cocoa, with a salty, spicy edge.
Comment
The nose suggests youth, but this is somewhat compensated for by a more pleasing palate

Joe Bates

Nose
Sea salt and peat smoke are the dominant notes.
Palate
Burnt caramel and vanilla initially, but then salt and more bitter notes of coffee and ground black pepper.
Finish
Medium-length finish, spicy. Stem ginger.
Comment
Eirigh Na Greine means ‘morning sky' in Gaelic, but this fiery dram is more of an Islay thunderstorm than a peaceful sunrise.
