- Nose
- Fragrant. Sea air. Very lightly briney.
- Palate
- Firm. Hint of iron. Oaky. Oily. Developing almondy, nutty maltiness. Deft balance of flavours.
- Finish
- Edible seaweed. More salt.
- Comment
- Because it is less aggressive than some of its neighbours, Bunnahabhain is often regarded as not being a proper Islay malt. This proves it can be.

- Nose
- Subtle sherry aroma balanced by a fresh salty breeze. Mildly bourboned.
- Palate
- Marginally fatter than the average Bunna, a quick rush of oak countered by malt and sherry.
- Finish
- Remains oaky and oily with some cocoa notes popping through.
- Comment
- Another example of an aged malt that, for all its obvious charm and class, has been just a tad too much oak. A delicious experience, nonetheless.
