A stunning assault of Demerera sugar, roasted nuts and fruity yoghurt.
Palate
Very sweet and juicy, then dried apricots before moving on to rich fruitcake.
Finish
A tart, dark marmalade tingle.
Comment
This whiskey has changed quite a bit in the last few years. It's now less subtle, more forthright, but no less delicious.

Dave Broom
Nose
Full, rich and woody. Light spiciness, varnish, toffee, orange peel. Good mature notes: overripe fruit, spruce, spent firework. Old...too old?
Palate
Wood has strong influence. Some sweet dried fruits, amontillado-like, roasted almond. A touch winey, then the wood firms a little.
Finish
Biscuity, dusty, splintery.
Comment
It's balanced but it lacks the vibrancy of the 16 Years Old.
