Nose
Clean, dry, peat-smoke fragrance. A hint of the sea? Palate
Vanilla. Syrupy-sweet flavours. Grassy. Sundried grass. Finish
Lemon grass. Complex spiciness. Gingery, dry. Very long. Comment
The best Banff I have tasted. Shows its age but the finish reveals real depth and staying power.
Jim Murray
Nose
Over ripe banana and papaya star in this fruity production. Otherwise hot and slightly over oaked. Palate
For all the alcoholic oomph, it's rather thin taste-wise, except for an exceptionally sweet maltiness which grows rather charmingly and is the high point. Finish
Thinner still, despite a hint of cocoa. Still hot and off-balanced by the bullying oak. Comment
This was probably a half decent dram 12 years ago.
