Nose
Beeswax. Honey. Lemon-grass. Peat. Palate
Starts rich. Lemon. Blackcurrant. Menthol. Becoming dry and astringent. Finish
Cedary. Woody. Abrupt. Comment
This was never a great distillery but it made some perfectly pleasant whiskies and its loss is to be regretted. This bottling is past its best but obviously has rarity value.
Jim Murray
Nose
Wine gums and salt: breezy and quite polished. Palate
Hard as nails: another that shows Irish pot still characteristics-and how. The barley is hard enough to break your teeth on but brilliantly mouth-watering. Finish
The oak is subdued by the barley concentrate, which continues to overwhelm the taste buds. Fantastic. Comment
Is it too late to transport this dead distillery brick by brick to Ireland? The most Irish Scotch of all time! Astounding.
