Tasting Notes

Michael Jackson Nose Powerful seashore aromas. Palate Firm, dry, salty. Olivey bitterness. Black olives. Finish Intensely pepper, salty. Slight iodine. Comment Youthfully powerful. Almost raw flavours, without being in any way spirity. Many Islay-lovers enjoy their whiskies young. This is a robust example.

Jim Murray Nose Fresh and slightly green, subtle and very sweet pea. Quite oily and gristy. Palate Immediately sweet with a consuming and fabulously oily peatiness. Little complexity beyond peppery smoke and the youth of the malt. Finish Remains young and wonderfully intense with the peat clinging on as some drier oaky tones emerge. Comment Peatiness is unyielding and unsubtle but enormously enjoyable.
