80
- Nose
- Heady and ample sherry notes. Morello cherry. Loads of vanilla. Old furniture.
- Palate
- Incredibly sprightly for its age. Speaks out. Trifle, toasted coffee, hint of smoke.
- Finish
- Very spicy. Cinnamon, ginger, hot paprika.
- Comment
- Bossily buoyant. Loses in delicacy what it gains in flavour and texture. Miles away from the Lowlands.
82
- Nose
- Big and sweet with oily qualities and soft sherry notes: moist sultana cake, cherry/red berries. Wood-derived aromas.
- Palate
- Huge and powerful with incense, walnut, chocolate and ripe rich fruity notes. Honeyed warmth.
- Finish
- Long big and nutty, with spice.
- Comment
- What a contrast!
