Dave Broom
78- Nose
- Clean and a little buttery - think clotted cream toffee - then comes wet grass and gentle fruits. With water, choux pastry (profiterole) and custard tarts.
- Palate
- Prickly when neat with sweet white fruits, milk chocolate and grassiness.
- Finish
- Clean and lively.
- Comment
- All very poised and pleasant, but apart from its unusual provenance (an unpeated Caol Ila) not exceptional.

- Smoky, earthy. Slightly medicinal. Malt four. Hint of smoked haddock. Clover honey. Quite complex. With water, a mineral note.
- Palate
- Smooth and sweet at start then a spicy fizzy burst.
- Finish
- Medium, soothing on gentle spices.
- Comment
- A well structured peaty character, balanced with an enticing malty sweetness. Surprisingly water tends to harden it.
