Japanese Whisky ~ Single Malt

Dave Broom

Huge colour for one so young, suggesting a very active cask. Big hit of smoke, sandalwood. Additive style with the firmness of youth and a big uptake of fresh oak. Polenta, nettle, and slightly resinous. Exotic.
Immediate woodsmoke, with some of the rubberiness typical of young peaty whiskies.
Clean and smoky.
Has more presence than cask 447 thanks to the smoke which allows the spirit to show through some pretty domineering oak. A market for a developing style.

Rob Allanson

Very earthy, moss, bracken, walking in a pine forest. Hot stones, slightly medicinal too, coal tar soap.
Crisp with masses of sweetness up front. Cough sweet.
Dry with a little soot.
Quite surprising, the nose takes you one way but the palate is immense.
