Martine Nouet
Nose
Heavy with wood influence. Wet cellar, damp wood. Earthy notes. Distant floral touch. Fading rose.
Palate
Wood speaks up on the palate as well. Dark chocolate, raisins, burst of spices. One by one, unmelted. Pretty harsh.
Finish
Dry, bitter. Woody.
Comment
A port finish? Rather brutal and overwhelming. Was the distillery character so bland?

Nose
Rich dried fruit, with underlying toffee, butterscotch and digestive biscuits, chocolate, then apricot jam appears.
Palate
Creamy créme caramel and butterscotch lead to orange marmalade, apricot jam, then a serving of chocolate mousse with subtle, dry oak.
Finish
Dried fruit, shortbread and spicy oak.
Comment
Evolves with poise and self assurance, retaining controlled sweetness.
