Nose
Sherry wood indeed. Slightly winey. Stewed quinces with cinnamon. Buttered apples. Beeswax. Palate
Thick mouthfeel. Malty flavours break through oak. Spices emerging. Finish
Strong. Liquoriced and spicy. Black pepper. Comment
Rich and generous. Again, overwhelming distillery character.
Dave Broom
Nose
Fat, sherried aromas: walnut/pecan, date, treacle toffee, leather with oily/honeyed notes behind. Palate
Thick, sweet and very juicy. Ripe and full with dry nuttiness around it. Robust and a bit slick. Finish
Soft. Comment
A northern monster in which Scapa’s lusciousness is left as texture with the sherry having a greater impact.
