- Nose
- Rich gold. Picks up the clean freshness seen in the 12yo, but adds a thick, caramelised fruitiness. Baked apple, golden syrup, sweet dried fruits, vanilla pod, sweet orange.
- Palate
- Fleshy and soft. Lots of thick millionaire shortbread. The toasted element is retained but this has richness and subtle depth. Masses of scented fruits. Opens beautifully.
- Finish
- Nutmeg, dried flowers and nuts.
- Comment
- Has richness, but is always also being pulled up adding a top layer of fragrance. Loses the impact with water, so I'd have it neat or with one rock.
- Nose
- A clear progression from the 12yo, where maturity deepens the elements. Malty notes and citrus burst through. Chocolate orange.
- Palate
- Gentle and subtle. The flavours grow slowly revealing more citrus, oranges
and lemons, and then the oak grips.
- Finish
- Complex and oaky.
- Comment
- One of the big hitters in this age bracket, lives up to its reputation.
