Nose
Pronounced smoke, rather than peat, though both are evident. Palate
Syrupy. Sweet grass. Smoky, some drier hints of phenol. A suggestion of juicy wood extracts, or sherry, rounding out the flavours. Finish
Smoky and emphatically grassy. Sweet grass but also spicy dryness. Comment
Lots happening. Chimney pots of smoke. I love this whiskey.
Jim Murray
Nose
An elegant floral style of peat, iodine laced with heather offering a deliciously sweet maltiness. Excellent. Palate
Intensely malty at first. Immaculately clean and juicy, almost. Finish
Medium, melt-in-the-mouth and luscious. Comment
Not as complex on the palate as before. This is a truly great whiskey developing in the mould of a youngish Port Ellen.
