Gavin Smith
Nose
Insistent pepper and some malt.
Palate
Some initial smoke, unexpected weightiness, quite mouht-coating and malty. Pears, mixed spice, and melon – especially when reduced.
Finish
Hot, salt, with oak notes lingering.
Comment
Perhaps 12 years in the cask is slightly too long for most Rosebanks. This does not seem a particularly well-behaved example.

Nose
Floral. American cream soda, fizzy sherbet, lemonade. A little water concentrates the aroma well. Has delicate complexity and a dry edge.
Palate
Fragrant. Icing sugar, elderflower, polished wood. Light and rather fragile.
Finish
Sweet. Grapes dusted with icing sugar.
Comment
Like lace on the palate. Treat carefully.
