Nose
Instant complexity. Ginger cake, ripe fruit, dessert wine. Dried figs. Honey? Later, some acetone. A faint, savoury undertone. Smoke?
Palate
Rich, creamy. Dried fruits. Woody. Yorkshire Parkin. Treacle pudding.
Finish
Rich and dark. Burnt treacle tart, liquorice.
Comment
Mature. Complex. A little woody for sure, but plenty of pleasant things going on elsewhere in this contemplative dram.

Nose
Cola bottles, plum pudding and autumn leaves. Maraschino cherries, venison with a berry sauce. More dried floral character with water.
Palate
More of that cola bottle note, with dark fruits too and some sulphur.
Finish
More sulphur: roast beef and peanuts.
Comment
I enjoyed it, but I am sensitive to that sulphur/meaty character of certain sherry casks. That finish is a hindrance to the drink, not a help.
