Nose
Chocolate mints. Dark chocolate. Wax paper. Straw. Palate
Chocolatey. Crunchy. Root ginger. White pepper. Finish
Hot. Alcoholic. Aggressive. Comment
I would never have identified this as an Auchentoshan. Proves 'the Glasgow malt' has plenty of character, but this expression lacks subtlety.
Dave Broom
Nose
A strange nose: farmyards and mash gas to start, then malt extract, damp raffia and then a dominant raisin-like Marsala-type note. Palate
Sweet and slightly burnt treacle toffee. Slightly unbalanced. Finish
Dry and crisp. Char. Comment
Decent but lacking true balance.
