Nose
Tangy, oak speaks out. Earthy, damp cellar. Mushrooms. Pine cones. Opens up on creamy notes. Apples cooked in butter. Palate
Sweet at start then oak quickly comes on stage. Slight astringency. Mixed spices. Finish
Dry, nutty with a touch of milk chocolate. A spicy hint. Comment
Wood bosses around. Lacks subtility and complexity. Leaves a burning sensation.
Dave Broom
Nose
Start slightly sulphury with hints of ripe soft cheese. Pretty funky and leathery. With water out comes a mix of wax, moss and sandalwood. Palate
Much better than the nose. A hot paprika burn which starts in the middle of the palate and runs to the finish. Finish
Mossy. Comment
A palatable whisky which comes as some relief after the initially alarming nose.
