Nose
Rich, rooty smoky - plenty of liquorice and tar then iris. Rich, dusty and slightly earthy in a pleasant fashion. Intriguing.
Palate
Expansive. Quite oily and tongue coating but there's a slightly maritime edge to the flavours before a succulent and deep fat fruitiness fills out the midpalate. The fishy smoke returns.
Finish
Rich, smoked and long.
Comment
Lovely tussle between the two elements. A lot of fun.

Nose
Briny. Phenolic. Tar, a hint of camphor. Plenty of fruit behind the smoky screen. Baked apples. A touch of fudge.
Palate
Sweet and velvety. Oily. The peat shines through with a distinctive marine character.
Finish
Sweet and liquoriced.
Comment
A generous and gentle character. Double Barrel Mortlach/Laphroaig? Well Islay overwhelms Speyside but the marriage is very happy.
