- Nose
- Marine smokiness, Islay tinged. Cooked plums. Creosote. Smoked ham. Oyster chowder.
- Palate
- Assertive. Malty sweetness. Distinctively peaty with a sea-spray freshness.
- Finish
- Warm, spicy and dry.
- Comment
- Conclusion: A true and easy-going mariner. Straight forwardness takes the place of complexity. Is Caol Ila a major player in the vatting?

- Nose
- Biscuity, quite dry lifted by sugar puff sweetness, mandarine peel, heather. Hint of turfy smoke, stewed tea.
- Palate
- Smoke, then nutty malt, light oak, coconut. Crisp and firm. A little disappointing after the nose.
- Finish
- Firm. Light peat.
- Comment
- Briefly this reminded me of the smell in the old Glasgow subway. Well put together.
