Tasting Notes

Michael Jackson

Nose
Sweet nuttiness. Almonds. Fresh figs.
Palate
Slow start. Heavy footed. Black treacle.
Finish
Crisp. Ginger biscuits.
Comment
Mortlach is usually a supple, muscular malt. At ten years, this already seems a trifle tired.

Dave Broom

Nose
Some sweetness. A BIG nose: brambles and summer fruits, loganberry, roast chestnut, chocolate, treacle toffee, Lea and Perrins, smoke.
Palate
Rich with good depth of flavour. That treacle toffee again alongside roasted nuts. Stewed tea.
Finish
Hedgerow fruits.
Comment
The Port gives a sweetness you don't usually encounter in Mortlach. This has balance.
