72
- Nose
- Leather, saddle soap, 'fousty'.
- Palate
- Quite thick mouthfeel, dominant dry oak.
- Finish
- Mixed spices and raisins behind the oak, but struggling.
- Comment
- Hasn't held up for its age anything like as well as the previous thirty-something Bruichladdich. The cask has won this battle.
70
- Nose
- Old, mature. Bung cloth, raisin, cereal, boot polish, lardy cake. Like an old warehouse. Becomes mustier with time. Damp wood.
- Palate
- Mixed dried fruits, dry clootie dumping mix. Old and fading fast.
- Finish
- Light tingle of ginger.
- Comment
- Gone, just spent too long in the cask.
