80- Nose
- Cedar. Leather. Linseed.
- Palate
- Buttery, nutty. Emphatic milk chocolate. Developing a gentle, toasted-almond dryness.
- Finish
- Firm. Soothing.
- Comment
- Black Barrel with more age, more wood.
Dave Broom
85- Nose
- Lush with vanilla, sweet nuts and caramelised fruits: baked banana, orange, fenugreek leaves. Water brings out complex, spicy oak-derived tones; plum, coffee, butterscotch Angel Delight.
- Palate
- Rich, soft and chewy. Cream toffee, berry fruits, spiced oaky flavours.
- Finish
- Big and rounded.
- Comment
- A very elegant dram which demonstrates (as do many of the others) just how great grain whisky can be.
