Dave Broom
78- Nose
- Lightly resinous (good age?) with baked fruits and lightly charred lift. A little shy. With water there's maple syrup/toffee apple and a touch of malt.
- Palate
- Immediately spicy,nutmeg to the fore. A thick caramel quality in the middle then a prick of orange zest. Tongue coating. Slightly fragile feel.
- Finish
- Soft and nutty.
- Comment
- Good, but for me just lacks the extra layer of complexity to lift it to the next level.

84- Nose
- Intense,rich. Orange marmalade, candied kumquat. Marzipan. Opening on more fruit,exotic this time. Passion fruit juice. Luscious dessert aromas.
- Palate
- Silky,gently flowing. Sweet but well balanced, with the same rich and luscious sensation. Orange cake.
- Finish
- Dry,slightly spicy,with a touch of toasted hazelnuts.
- Comment
- An elegant and well-structured dram. But I would avoid water. Funny how water wakes the oakiness up but also tones down all the rest.
