- Nose
- Heavily sherried. Dark wood. Walnut stain. Nutmeg, cloves. Marasquino cherries. Raisins. Beautiful concentration. An Oxtail broth note.
- Palate
- Sweet at start then bitter. Oak is overwhelming. Burnt caramel. Walnut
loaf. Molasses. Oak, oak and oak.
- Finish
- Bitter and spicy.
- Comment
- A style of whisky which has its fans. But that oak infusion masks the distillery character and the essence of whisky for me. Sad, as the nose is interesting.

- Nose
- Classic sherried notes: think cheese rind, sappiness, walnut and a sweetness that brings to mind a mix of damson and molasses.
- Palate
- Rounded with sufficient supple weight to balance the tannin. This means instead of being butter it's fruity and sweet with a chewy, rather than hard, quality.
- Finish
- Long and deep.
- Comment
- A classic sherried whisky. Glendronach at 15 Years Old? Perfection. Macallan beware.
