- Nose
- Prickly at start. But slowly opening on fruit and oak. Burnt wood. Dried fruit.
Obvious sherry influence. Cocoa bean. Damson plums.Sandalwood.
- Palate
- Dry and crisp. Oak speaks up. The alcohol bite leaves a tangy feel on the tongue. Quite astringent. The fruit is overwhelmed by tannins.
- Finish
- Dry,burning. The spices linger, keeping the tastebuds numb.
- Comment
- The nose was promising but the palate is too woody for me. And the alcohol is not mastered.

- Nose
- Christmas in a glass. Dried fruits, Christmas cake, spiced apple, cinnamon, the whole seasonal she bang.
- Palate
- Stewed apples, mince pies, orange peel, rich and wonderful. Warm this up and who needs mulled wine?
- Finish
- Marmaladey, spicy and fruity. A lovely balanced mix.
- Comment
- Everything a malt from this distillery at this age should be. No distillery does whisky this old this well.
