Nose
Sour oakiness. Wet wood, humus. Damp warehouse. Cider cellar.
Palate
Sweet at first then very bitter. A musty flavour. A touch of strong coffee and soft spices.
Finish
Dry, astringent, spicy with a sweet nutty aftertaste.
Comment
This whisky has certainly lost its balance. You have got to like oaky whiskies. I miss the distillery character.

Nose
Stewed oranges, Parkin cake, ginger bread, church incense. Damp leather books and dunnage warehouses, oolong tea.
Palate
Bitter orange peel, plum pudding, a tad smoky. That damp note comes through with wet coffee grinds.
Finish
Drying with oak astringency.
Comment
A big oaky beast, perfect for a late night nightcap.
