Nose
A blast of burnt sugar, with resinous notes, dried figs, some dried ginger and a wisp of musty corks.
Palate
Woody on the first sip, with emerging notes of clove, aromatic liquorice, juicy raisin and malt extract.
Finish
Dry, spicy with a touch of toasted rye bread and rare steak.
Comment
Staying just on the right side of the wood, this has plenty of sizzle left in it, with some rather nice dry spiced notes.

Nose
Warm plum duff, raisins, flour and breadcrumbs. A floral note, lillies and daffodils. A winey edge, sherry must.
Palate
Builds from the nose. Sweet plump raisins doused in sherry. Dark honey and Christmas spices, then the oak grips in too.
Finish
Short, dried and sherried.
Comment
The alcohol and wood are well mastered and integrated.
