- Nose
- Deceptive. Seems restrained, but at close quarters is quite powerful. Nutty, with a splash of lemony sourness.
- Palate
- Big, firm. Hard toffee. Burnt, peat-smoke notes.
- Finish
- Spicy. Ginger snaps. Shortbread. Long, lingering.
- Comment
- Confident. Straightforward. A first-class whisky. Well-rounded. No-nonsense.

- Nose
- Big, rich, appetising nose: Dundee cake, oak, sherry, ripe fruits, fern/bracken and the greenish edge you seem to get with many 12 Years Olds.
- Palate
- Robust, deep and fruity with lovely rich oaky notes.
- Finish
- A little short.
- Comment
- A powerful bugger and a great introduction to the distillery style, but you feel you'd get much more in a couple of years.
