Nose
Aromatic. Damp cellars. Earthy and rooty. Dundee cake. A touch of orange peel and pot pourri. A distant smoky note. Palate
Sweet but vivid. Refreshing. Barley sugar. Finish
Lingering, warm. Leafy, becomes bitter with water added. Comment
A more sprightly Glenfiddich than the standard 12. Thirst-quenching. Peatiness and the smoked finish aren't as 'distinct' as the label suggests.
Dave Broom
Nose
Soft malty, cereal notes: ground hazelnuts, vanilla, oak and light smoke. Palate
Sweet, malty and lightly fruity. A slight woody catch on the tongue then the smoke builds up. Finish
Perfumed smoke then a medicinal note. Comment
An interesting experiment...but why not just peat some Glenfiddich and see what happens? You'd have a genuine peated Speyside malt.
