83- Nose
- Shows good maturity. Oak-driven and spicy with soft, sweet, black fruits - blueberry and sloe. Lightly vinous with plum jam, apple, light chocolate, dried cherry. Slightly mossy.
- Palate
- Balanced. Soft fruits backed with crisp sweet oak. Gentle, fleshy and smooth with a tongue-coating quality. Damson-stone bitterness gives balance and stops it being too jammy.
- Finish
- Clean, thick, sweet.
- Comment
- A new land for Glenfiddich and the drinker. Recommended.
Martine Nouet
70- Nose
- Farm-like. Cowshed, wet straw. Milk parlour. Butyric. A grassy touch. Lemon balm. Sweetmeadow flowers.
- Palate
- Sweet at first but immediately followed by an oaky grip which releases bitter notes. Getting fizzy. Dry cider. Ginger. Dark chocolate. Sweeter with water but not really palatable.
- Finish
- Dry and fizzy. Numbs the tongue without water.
- Comment
- That farmyard profile is a bit too much. And the palate is dour though sweet. Lacks balance.
