Tasting Notes

Dave Broom

Nose
Fresh, sweet and quite light with cream, coconut, baked banana. Water brings out clover honey, jasmine, cucumber and very light ginger.
Palate
Sweet and light. Very clean and lifted with enough going on in the centre to give it good balance and feel.
Finish
Minty.
Comment
Amazingly fresh for such an oldie. Much prefer this style of Glengoyne to the sherried monsters which tend to drown the distillery character.

Martine Nouet

Nose
Perfumy. Starts with cereal notes entwined with fruit and oak. Barley sugar, peardrop, gooseberry, polished floor. Then herbal notes break through. Linden tree.
Palate
Good velvety feel stiffened by grippy oak.
Finish
Dry, spicy, oaky.
Comment
The nose promised smoothness, the palate delivered dry oakiness. Water cuts the edges but enhances bitterness and spices.
