Dave Broom
Nose
Date, light resin, liquorice black fruits, treacle pudding, malt extract. Water brings out tomato ketchup, as if it’s heading into balsamic territory. Great weight and complexity.
Palate
Rich fruits, plum jam, parma violet. This amazing concentrated sweetness means it needs time for everything to be teased out and a fair bit of water to cut the heat. Complex.
Finish
Long, silky.
Comment
Only 14. I’m amazed. A must try.

Nose
Treacle and molasses with some floral notes. This treacle character is prevalent. A bit of fennel, some earthy peatiness.
Palate
Sweet, simple with orange and aniseed.
Finish
An exhaust-like smokiness, and I couldn’t quite work out if it was just the sherry cask maturation or a peatiness underneath.
Comment
Limited depth and complexity, but the dimensions this offers are bold and pleasing without particular off-notes.
