Michael Jackson
Nose
Fresh, maritime. Harbour-front.
Palate
A complex of flavours, emerging one after the other, in clean hits: Oily, seaweedy, green, leafy. Garden mint. Flowery.
Finish
Herbal. Salt. Very long indeed. Waves lapping on the palate.
Comment
A restrained example of this fine malt, but the silent still is almost out of stock. There will be few further opportunities to buy.

Nose
A real mariner (fishnet, seaweed). Smoke mingled with sea spray. Grassy. Watermelon. A touch of wild mint.
Palate
Sweet and minty. Caressing mouthfeel. Very refreshing and appetising. Quite simple.
Finish
Warm, drying on liquorice and soft spices.
Comment
A gentle Port Ellen, with the sea influencing the nose more than the palate. Would have proved a heftier guy at a higher strength.
