Nose
Garden mint. Marijuana. Incense. Joss sticks. Palate
Creamy and oily. Peppermint. Finish
Tobacco. Faint peat smoke. Comment
I have always found Benromach assertively flowery, herbal, almost cedary. Will this highly distinctive character prevail in the new, smaller, stills introduced since the change of ownership? Tastings on a recent visit suggest that it might.
Jim Murray
Nose
At once flowery and fruity. Marmalade and very sweet vanilla. Palate
Excellent bittersweet kick-off, complex and tangled but settling for a medium sweet wine gum fruitiness. Finish
Lots of vanilla intermingling with gentlest arrival of smoke. Rather thin at the death, though. Comment
Something of a delicate flower, lacks a certain 'oomph' to rant it amongst the greats.
